From humble beginnings to audacious meanderings, this site was started in 1999 as a hobby. Initially, it was named Team Sandbagger.

As I overcame my limitations of being a newbie to the internet, the site kept growing and developing. As it grew, it became more of a personal web site than a sailing based site. So I changed the name to The Sandbagger.

When making this site, I have gone thru several periods of writers block. Most periods spent developing this site stemmed from times of heavy seas, you might say. Hence the saying, "After you have been caught in a storm, everything else is just a breeze".

Though many pages of this site were developed after taking time to clear the impact of turbulent periods in recent years, it does not make writing what I have to say that much easier. For a long time, I was afraid of stepping on toes with what I might have to say here. From previous experiences, I have found that I succeed best when I exclude my focus from outside influences. So with due respect and diplomacy, I will proceed with revising this site utilizing as little reservation as I tactfully can.
